Portfolio Management
Vartan & Son currently manage funds in excess of £200m. Portfolios handled vary in size down to a minimum of £100,000. We currently advise a range of clients who require services for Private Client Funds, Pension Funds, Charities, City Livery Companies, Ecclesiastically based funds and Educational funds. Less than 10% of all our business emanates from the Peterborough area. Our intention is to create and manage portfolios which are tailored individually, whether for a Charity, Pension Fund or individual Client. Our investment strategy is formulated at the highest level and the portfolio is personalised to the client’s own unique needs, not pooled into “in-house” funds.
The “Know Your Client” form, which is completed at the outset, clearly identifies the “investment objectives” and “risk profile”, and the appointed Fund Manager maintains close links with the client to ensure that all changes in the client’s circumstances and needs are noted. Every client is introduced to one (or frequently all) of the Fund Managers and regular meetings are encouraged. These meetings range from monthly, through to once or twice a year and depend on the stated needs of the client.
Reviews of the Portfolio and investment Objectives are carried out on a regular basis, with at least two Valuations being sent out every year. Additional working ducuments showing current values and current income are also regularly sent out and frequently after transactions have been completed.
The use of benchmarks is increasingly important nowadays and for this purpose we use the APCIMS Benchmarks, as well as the wider-based FTSE Indices. These are shown on portfolio valuations.
Pension Fund Management – we manage funds on behalf of a number of small to medium sized Pension Funds. Detailed attention is paid to the requirements of the Fund and an enhanced level of reporting is available for these portfolios and tax reclamation on dividends is available as a matter of course.
Both a Discretionary and an Advisory management service is offered, but the use of Pershing Keen Nominees is essential if the Discretionary management service is to be used.
